EXCITING FIRST KHANH HOA PROVINCIAL CYCLING RACE IN 2026

The 2026 First Khanh Hoa Provincial Cycling Race – Trungnam Cup gathers more than 100 riders from 10 clubs inside and outside the province, competing in 6 events for 6 sets of medals by age groups.

On the morning of April 18, the 2026 First Khanh Hoa Provincial Cycling Race – Trungnam Cup opened at April 16 Square, Dong Hai Ward. This is the first time the race has been held after Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan merged, continuing the three successful editions previously organized by the former Ninh Thuan province. In the race, riders compete over three distances—30 km, 40 km, and 50 km—in two categories (individual and team), divided into three age groups from 16 to over 50 years old

This year’s race aims to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the liberation of Khanh Hoa Province, the liberation of the South and national reunification, and International Workers’ Day (May 1), while also promoting the cycling movement in communes and wards in the southern area of the province.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Phan Duc Cuong, Director of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Competition Services Center and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized that cycling is not only a sport for improving health but also an opportunity for clubs to meet, exchange, and share experience. With favorable coastal terrain and open road systems, Khanh Hoa has sufficient conditions to develop cycling in a more professional direction.

Speaking with Thanh Nien, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Deputy Director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Head of the Organizing Committee, said the number of athletes this year is larger and the quality higher than in previous years. In addition to promoting sports and physical training, the race also aims to build traffic culture within the race environment. With experience from this first edition, the Organizing Committee sets a goal to expand the scale in the following years, plan from the beginning of the year, and invite more provinces and cities nationwide to participate so that the race can gradually become a competition of national stature.

That hope is also shared by many athletes. Mr. Tran Minh Thang, head of Nha Trang Velo Club, which brought 20 riders to today’s race, could not hide his joy at having a cycling event organized professionally in the locality.

Mr. Thang shared: “Today’s race route is very beautiful, with both climbs and descents, creating a very exciting feeling to ride.” What he looks forward to most is that the next race will be upgraded and organized in Nha Trang on a nationwide scale, so that the cycling community across the country will know more about Khanh Hoa through this sport.
