4,900 BILLION VND BRIDGE CONNECTING HO CHI MINH CITY AND DONG NAI AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

After more than two years of construction, Phuoc An Bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai has completed half of its workload. Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City side is accelerating toward completion, while Dong Nai is focusing on site clearance.

At present, the two main pylons of Phuoc An Bridge connecting the Phu My area (formerly Ba Ria – Vung Tau, now part of Ho Chi Minh City) with Phuoc An Port in Nhon Trach, Dong Nai have taken shape, rising hundreds of meters above the Thi Vai River.

According to Tri Thuc – Znews reporters, contractors have mobilized hundreds of workers and machines across the construction site to build bridge piers on the river.

Among them, pier T38 under Package 39 is being constructed with the 8th–9th cable-stayed segments by a contractor consortium led by Trungnam E&C.

The bridge piers rising in the middle of the river create the image of a large-scale transport project gradually taking shape.

According to the latest progress report, the project has currently reached about 50% of total output, basically following the overall approved schedule.

On the Phu My bank (Ho Chi Minh City), site clearance has been completed, enabling contractors to accelerate construction progress.

Meanwhile, the Nhon Trach side (Dong Nai) is still resolving issues related to site clearance.

At Package 38, the approach bridge section on the Phu My side has completed bored piles, load reduction slabs, abutment M0, and many bridge piers. The implementation value of this package has reached more than 65%, equivalent to about VND 632 billion. The continuous construction of bridge piers has created a clear appearance of the structure.

According to representatives of the construction unit, completing site clearance on the Dong Nai side is decisive for the overall progress of the entire project. Local authorities are coordinating with the investor to resolve remaining issues to enable the project to accelerate in the coming time.

Package 39 is focusing on constructing the tower shafts and extradosed girder spans — a special structure requiring high technical standards. The girder spans are gradually extending from both sides toward the closure stage. The construction value of this package has reached nearly 64%, equivalent to more than VND 1,000 billion.

Packages on the Dong Nai side, from pier T40 to abutment M75, are currently still in the early stage as they depend on the progress of land handover. On the construction site, pile drilling machines, cranes, and ground reinforcement equipment have been mobilized, ready for simultaneous construction once conditions are cleared.

Phuoc An Bridge is one of the three bridges with the highest navigation clearance in Vietnam, with a clearance height of 55 meters, equivalent to Binh Khanh and Phuoc Khanh bridges on the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway, ensuring navigation for ships with a capacity of 30,000 tons passing underneath.

Once completed, the project will directly connect the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port area (Ho Chi Minh City) with the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway (Dong Nai), thereby helping to reduce pressure on National Highway 51 and shorten cargo transportation time from the Mekong Delta provinces to the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port area.
