FLOOD CONTROL FOR HO CHI MINH CITY DUE TO TIDES, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT CLIMATE CHANGE (PHASE 1)

The project implements tidal flood control and proactive climate change adaptation for an area of 570 km² with approximately 6.5 million people in the area on the right bank of the Saigon River and central Ho Chi Minh City.

Scale:

  • - Construction of 06 tidal control sluices, including Ben Nghe, Tan Thuan, Phu Xuan, Muong Chuoi, Cay Kho, and Phu Dinh, with widths of 40–160 m
  • - Construction of 1 pumping station at Ben Nghe sluice with a capacity of 12 m³/s, 1 pumping station of 24 m³/s at Tan Thuan sluice, and 1 pumping station of 18 m³/s at Phu Dinh sluice
  • - Construction of 7.8 km of dikes/embankments along the Saigon River from Vam Thuat to Song Kinh at vulnerable sections
  • - Small sluices with openings of 1.0 m to 10.0 m from Vam Thuat to Muong Chuoi
  • - Construction of a central management building for the entire project and the SCADA system
