On January 7, 2017, Trung Nam Krong No Hydropower Joint Stock Company (a member of Trungnam Group) organized the inauguration ceremony for the Krong No 2 Hydropower Plant. The facility is located in Dung K'No commune, Lac Duong district, Lam Dong province, with its right bank situated in Krong No commune, Lak district, Dak Lak province.
The inauguration of Krong No 2 Hydropower Plant marks a major milestone in completing the hydropower cascade development plan on the Krong No river branch. Krong No 2 and 3 form a strategic hydropower cascade designated in the regional power master plan.
Located across Lac Duong district (Lam Dong) and Lak district (Dak Lak), Krong No 2 Hydropower Plant has a total installed capacity of 30 MW. On average, the plant produces an estimated 105.87 million kWh of electricity annually for the national power grid.
To complete the project, Trungnam Krong No undertook a massive construction effort, including excavating approximately 805,910 m³ of soil and rock, using over 4,200 tons of steel, and pouring 115,000 m³ of concrete across the primary structural components.

Mr. Do Van Kien, representative of the Developer, shared: "Investing in Dam Rong, Lac Duong, and Lak districts brings multi-faceted benefits to local authorities and ethnic communities, generating annual tax revenues and creating stable job opportunities. Throughout project execution, local residents benefited directly from upgraded transport infrastructure, helping them settle securely while supporting local forestry, farming, and reservoir aquaculture endeavors."
The project was financed by Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB). Operating in rugged, mountainous terrain required a high level of technical specialization, posing significant challenges for project financing. However, with clear vision and strong determination, SHB partnered alongside Trungnam Krong No to successfully build the Krong No 2 & 3 hydropower cascade.
Once operational, the Krong No 2 & 3 Hydropower Plants will enhance regional energy security, mitigate electricity shortages across Dak Lak and Lam Dong provinces, and contribute clean, green renewable energy to the national grid. Furthermore, a vital operational mission of the project is flood mitigation and water regulation along the river branch, ensuring a proactive irrigation water supply for downstream agriculture and daily life. Alongside economic benefits, the project creates local employment and drives social advancement across the Central Highlands.
