Constructing under complex COVID-19 pandemic conditions, the investor of
Ea Nam Wind Power – Trungnam Group always considers combining production and construction with absolute safety and pandemic prevention for engineers and workers on site as the top priority.
These days, the construction site of the
Ea Nam Wind Power Plant project (Dak Lak) with a capacity of 400 MW and 500 kV-450 MVA Substation connecting directly to the 500 kV Pleiku – Di Linh transmission line is bustling with vehicles, transporting equipment day and night to every wind tower base.
Since March, Mr. Duong Quang Hieu (born in 1970, Hai Lang district, Quang Tri) has not returned home. As a storekeeper, his position is virtually irreplaceable.
“I have worked on this project since its groundbreaking. Before Lunar New Year 2021, I was on duty at the site and stayed through Tet. It wasn't until March 2021 that I visited home once, and I have remained at the project ever since. It has been over 5 months now; I haven't returned to my hometown because the whole project has only one storekeeper. Even if I request leave, I only dare take 2 days off before returning,” Mr. Hieu shared.
Stationed at the project during busy construction days while facing pandemic risks, Mr. Hieu noted that not only he but all engineers and workers on site fully comply with health safety regulations issued by the Ministry of Health.
“I only commute from Trung Nam's warehouse to my room and back, strictly avoiding gatherings and always wearing masks and washing hands regularly,” Mr. Hieu said.
Like Mr. Hieu, Mr. Bui Nhu Tai (born in 1991, Hai Lang district, Quang Tri), a concrete worker at the Ea Nam wind project from day one, faces travel restrictions due to the pandemic. However, Mr. Tai affirmed the necessity of strictly obeying lockdown guidelines to help end the pandemic quickly.
“The company has also registered workers for vaccination. At work, we must wear medical face masks and sanitize hands. Workplaces cannot gather more than 10 people; outings are restricted. In emergencies, we must report to management and obtain approval before leaving,” Mr. Tai said regarding pandemic prevention measures at the project.
Not only Mr. Hieu or Mr. Tai... but all workers and engineers at the Ea Nam wind power project must strictly adhere to pandemic control measures; anyone leaving without permission will receive warnings and salary deductions.

Currently, the
Ea Nam wind power plant construction site employs nearly 1,000 personnel and workers. The construction footprint spans approximately 200 hectares across a 6,000-hectare area, preventing large worker gatherings at any single location.
Mr. Duy Hung, Deputy Project Director of Ea Nam Wind Power Plant Construction: “Trungnam Group thoroughly disseminates state regulations on COVID-19 prevention to all staff, partner companies, contractors, and supervisory consultants. The project also introduced additional measures, such as shift rotation and maintaining physical distance on site. We also offer supportive measures to reassure staff, minimizing leave during this critical time to prevent the spread of the virus. Additionally, the Group compiled staff lists to register everyone once broad vaccination campaigns open.”
COVID-19 prevention measures actively implemented by
Trungnam Group include: Daily temperature checks for all personnel; distributing face masks and hand sanitizer gel; sterilizing the entire project executive zone; restricting in-person meetings to under 15 people with physical distancing. Notably, the Group prepares warm salt-water ginger gargles twice daily for personnel and conducts regular COVID-19 tests for all staff.
“We understand that only by ensuring pandemic safety can the project achieve its target Commercial Operation Date (COD) before November 2021. This is a decisive factor in the project's success. Upon completion, the project will contribute approximately 1,173.6 GWh annually to the national grid. During project operation, the investor is estimated to contribute over VND 3,000 billion in corporate income tax to the local budget, along with approximately VND 250 billion/year in value-added tax.
