On July 7, 2018, Trungnam Group and Trung Nam Solar Power Joint Stock Company successfully organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the solar power plant project in Thuan Bac district, Ninh Thuan province.
Constructed across nearly 264 hectares within the wind and solar energy planning zone of Ninh Thuan province, the Trung Nam Solar Power Project features a total capacity of 204 MW, equipped with over 700,000 solar panels mounted on 120-degree single-axis tracking systems. These automatically rotate and adjust according to solar radiation throughout the day to maximize efficiency. To date, this represents Vietnam's first and largest integrated renewable energy project.
Upon completion and operational launch, the Trung Nam Solar Power Plant aims to generate approximately 450 million kWh annually. This photovoltaic generation will feed into the national power grid, supplementing energy supply for Ninh Thuan province and the nation. Beyond harnessing the province's natural potential, the project will drive regional socio-economic development by prioritizing local labor and supporting local infrastructure growth.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Phung Quoc Hien stated that Ninh Thuan is a Central region province characterized by a dry climate with abundant sunshine and wind year-round. With strategic vision, leaders of the Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee seized global trends toward renewable energy to develop solar and wind energy industries.
Highly praising the proactive and creative spirit of Ninh Thuan province and Trungnam Group, Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien expressed confidence that Ninh Thuan will advance clean energy development to become the national renewable energy hub. He also requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to coordinate with relevant ministries and Ninh Thuan province to resolve difficulties for the developer, accelerate progress, and ensure project quality.
At the ceremony, Trung Nam Construction and Machinery Erection Joint Stock Company (Trungnam EC) signed solar equipment supply agreements with a consortium of three partners: Siemens, Artech, and Trina. Additionally, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed between Trungnam Group and Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB Bank) for the Trung Nam solar power project.
