On the morning of March 12, the Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee inspected Tan Thuan, Muong Chuoi, Cay Kho tide control sluices and various components of the flood control project. During the working session, leaders from 6 districts committed to handing over land on schedule for Trungnam Group to complete the project by year-end.
Accompanying HCMC Party Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan were Vice Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen, representatives from relevant departments, and leaders of involved districts. Representing Trungnam Group, General Director Nguyen Tam Tien joined the inspection tour. Mr. Nguyen Tam Tien stated that since the HCMC People's Committee approved the project's restart, the unit has executed key tasks, including maintaining continuous construction at the Tan Thuan, Phu Dinh, and Ben Nghe sluices throughout the Lunar New Year holiday to ensure engineering quality. To date, overall project volume has surpassed 72%. However, construction at Tan Thuan and Phu Dinh sluices remains more challenging due to soft soil conditions. Mr. Tien committed to completing construction by year-end, provided local authorities hand over site clearance on schedule by June 30.

During the meeting, local district representatives and municipal departments reported ongoing project bottlenecks, particularly regarding land acquisition and site clearance compensation. Meanwhile, Vice Chairman Tran Vinh Tuyen emphasized that local authorities would be held fully accountable if construction sites are not delivered on time. Additionally, the Municipal People's Committee and operational departments are formulating operational mechanisms for the completed infrastructure.
Furthermore, the HCMC People's Committee worked with BIDV Bank, which fundamentally agreed to extend preferential loan terms to disburse project funds. Moving forward, the Committee will coordinate with the State Bank of Vietnam. At the meeting, Party Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan reiterated the vital importance of the nearly 10,000-billion VND tidal flood-control project, as it directly affects the livelihoods of 6.5 million citizens. He stressed the imperative of accelerating progress and commended inter-agency coordination in resolving difficulties. He urged relevant agencies and districts to implement rapid solutions for land acquisition compensation.

At the session, departments alongside 4 urban districts and 2 rural districts reported on site clearance progress, committing to municipal leaders to deliver land on schedule by June 30, with some localities aiming for May handover. Regarding steel quality inspection, Secretary Nhan noted that if steel meets standards, construction will proceed normally, whereas non-compliant steel must be replaced.
