On July 3, 2026, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 3291/QD-UBND approving the investment policy and designating Trung Nam Hydropower Joint Stock Company (Trungnam Power) — a member unit of Trungnam — as the investor for the Floating Solar Power Plant Project on the Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Reservoir.

The Floating Solar Power Plant Project on the Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Reservoir combines hydropower and floating solar power, effectively utilizing the existing reservoir's water surface to develop renewable energy without increasing land-use demand. Simultaneously leveraging the transmission infrastructure, substation, and grid connection systems already in place at the Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Plant not only optimizes investment efficiency and reduces power system development costs, but also improves resource utilization efficiency and limits environmental and ecological impact. This development direction aligns with the green energy transition trend under Resolution No. 70-NQ/TW and Resolution No. 55-NQ/TW of the Politburo, which prioritize renewable energy development, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and cut emissions.

The project has been added to the National Power Development Plan for 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050 (revised Power Development Plan VIII), under Decision No. 768/QD-TTg issued by the Prime Minister on April 15, 2025. The project has a designed capacity of 240 MW (300 MWp), with average annual output of approximately 460 million kWh, and will be developed on the Dong Nai 2 Hydropower reservoir area, covering a total area of approximately 354.8 hectares. Total investment is nearly VND 5,000 billion, with construction expected to be completed in Q3 2027 and commercial operation, including grid connection, starting in Q4 2027.

Mr. Nguyen Tam Tien, CEO of Trungnam, said: "Being repeatedly selected as the investor for key energy projects, including the Floating Solar Power Plant Project on the Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Reservoir, further affirms Trungnam Group's capability, reputation, and commitment to sustainable development in the energy sector."
The project not only makes effective use of the reservoir's water surface and the existing transmission infrastructure of the Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Plant, but also contributes to expanding renewable energy capacity, improving resource-use efficiency, and supporting Vietnam's energy transition goals — in line with the Government's target of double-digit growth for the 2026–2030 period.
Founded in 2004, Trungnam has grown over more than 22 years into an ecosystem spanning energy, infrastructure and construction, real estate, and electronics information industry. With more than 1.63 GW of renewable energy capacity already connected to the national grid, Trungnam continues to develop large-scale energy projects, including wind power, solar power, floating solar, and integrated industrial complexes combining industrial parks, LNG power plants, and international ports — contributing to economic growth and national energy security in this new phase of development.
